MADURAI: Three pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, including a one-year-old baby, died and 15 others were injured early on Sunday after a truck violated a one-way traffic system and rammed into their van in Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin district.
The deceased were identified as Suman, 32, and Parvathy, 40, besides the baby girl. Suman and Parvathy died on the spot, and the baby on the way to hospital, a police officer said.The truck driver escaped after the 2.30am crash near Vallanadu on the Tuticorin-Tirunelveli National Highway. Police said a search was underway to locate him.
