A 78-year-old Indian-American engineer loses his employment with a missile defence firm – indiansupdate.com

Anil Varshney, a Senior Systems Engineer at Parsons Corporation in Huntsville, filed a federal lawsuit alleging discriminatory actions that resulted in his job termination in October of the previous year. As per AL.COM’s report on Monday, a white co-worker overheard Varshney speaking in Hindi during a phone call with his dying brother-in-law, K.C. Gupta, in India. Despite ensuring no sensitive materials were nearby, the co-worker interrupted the conversation and reported Varshney for a security violation. The lawsuit claims that the co-worker was intimidated by the unfamiliar language.

Varshney accepted the call in a private cubicle and spoke for about two minutes before abruptly ending it upon being confronted. However, he was immediately fired without any investigation, and the defendants accused him of committing a severe security breach, damaging his reputation and career prospects. Parsons responded to the allegations, denying any wrongdoing and requesting the lawsuit’s dismissal. Varshney seeks reinstatement to a position similar to his former role, the restoration of privileges, and the removal of any disciplinary records. If not reinstated, he seeks front pay and benefits. Additionally, he is seeking compensatory damages for mental anguish and emotional distress, as well as punitive and liquidated damages, along with attorney fees.

Anil Varshney, an American citizen who moved to the US in 1968 and settled in Huntsville, was previously recognized for his outstanding contributions to systems engineering and had received accolades for his work on missile defense programs. He is determined to seek justice for the alleged discrimination he faced and the wrongful termination of his job.
