A $4.01 check written by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has been fetched $36,850 (approximately Rs 30,71,600) at an auction. The cheque, dated July 23, 1976, is from the account of the Apple Computer Company to electronics retailer Radio Shack.
What’s significant about the cheque is that it lists the company’s first official address in Palo Alto, which was used by Jobs as Apple’s answering service and mail drop-off point while the company was being run out of his parent’s garage.
It is written for RadioShack and is signed by “Steven Jobs.” It is unclear what the cheque paid for at RadioShack, it is a unique piece of Apple history.
Not the first time
Last year, an Apple Computer cheque of $9.18 signed by Jobs in 1976 was sold for $55,000. Another check from the same year, for $13.86 to Elmar Electronics, was sold in March for $37,564.
In May this year, an auction was held for another cheque signed by Steve Jobs in July 1976. It was signed for Crampton, Remke and Miller Inc for $175, and was sold for $106,985.

Similarly, Jobs’ signature on a job application for employment as an “electronics tech or design engineer” from 1973 was sold in 2018 for $174,757. A signature from three years later, which appeared on an original Apple founding contract signed by Jobs,

Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, was sold in December 2011 for $1,594,500, according to The Guardian.
Not only, signature and cheques, hardware like iPhones have also fetched thousands of dollars at auctions. A first-generation seal-packed iPhone was sold for $54,904 (approximately Rs 45 lakh) at auction.
