Indian Shooters at Asian Games: Palak Clinches Gold, Esha Grabs Silver in 10m Air Pistol Event – indiansupdate

In a captivating showdown at the Asian Games 2023, Indian shooters Palak Gulia and Esha Singh showcased their prowess in the women’s 10m air pistol event. This historic clash saw Palak Gulia securing the gold medal while Esha Singh settled for a well-deserved silver.

The competition was fierce, with Pakistan’s Talat Kishmala also vying for a top spot and giving Esha a run for her money. This remarkable achievement in shooting added two more medals to India’s tally, with six of them being gold.

Palak Gulia, a 17-year-old shooting sensation, etched her name in the annals of history with this victory, marking her first major individual medal in an international competition. She displayed remarkable composure and skill, scoring 242.1 in the finals, setting an Asian Games record in the process.

Esha Singh’s impressive performance didn’t go unnoticed either. Prior to this event, Esha had clinched the individual silver in the 25m pistol category. She was also a crucial part of the team that secured the 10m air pistol team silver, alongside Palak and Divya TS. The women’s team collectively achieved a score of 239.7, securing another silver for India.

Before the exceptional display by the women shooters, India’s men’s team had already made the nation proud by clinching gold in the 50m rifle event. The team, consisting of the talented trio of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (591), Swapnil Kusale (591), and Akhil Sheoran (587), outperformed their Chinese counterparts by setting a world record score of 1769 points. China trailed behind with 1763 points, while South Korea finished third with 1748 points in the competition.
