With those two medals, both Esha and Tomar have four medals to their name overall in Hangzhou.

Starting the day off was Indian trio of Esha Singh, Palak and Divya TS who clinched silver medal in the women’s 10m air pistol team event, finishing behind China by 5 points. That was the third medal for Esha. Meanwhile, Esha and Palak also qualified for the individual final in the fifth and seventh places respectively.

The team gold for the men came with a world record score as they obliterated the existing USA mark by 8 points to score a total of 1769. Kusale and Tomar both shot a new joint Asian record of 591 to reach the final. Sheoran was unlucky to miss out despite finishing 5th with 587.

In the women’s 10m air pistol final, it was the Palak show all the way, as the 17-year-old led by a good margin for a large part of the contest. While two Chinese shooters were present in the final, the podium was a fascinating mix of two Indians and one Pakistani in Kishmala Talat for bronze.

In the men’s 50m 3-Positions final, there was heartbreak for Kusale who led by a handy margin for most of the time. But a stray 7.6 saw him getting pushed out of the podium places at the very end. Tomar, on the other hand, steadily climbed up the standings to finish second. He had already won medals in the 10m air rifle indiviudal and team events too, but 50 3P has traditionally been his best event.

The exploits on Friday took Indian shooters’ tally in Hangzhou to 18 medals with six gold.
