NEW DELHI: Pakistani counterterrorism police recently conducted multiple raids, leading to the arrest of 12 suspects in connection with the suicide bombing last week that killed five Chinese workers and their Pakistani driver, officials said on Monday.
According to Police officials, the detainees were not direct perpetrators of the attack but they provided assistance to those responsible for orchestrating the bombing aimed at the Chinese nationals.
The authorities said that some of the arrested individuals had ties to Pakistani militants. The suspects are currently under interrogation, with ongoing raids taking place.
The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity.
They said that certain detained suspects had transported an explosive-laden car to Shangla, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where a suicide bomber drove it into another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of Chinese workers.
