NEW DELHI: Four officers have allegedly been killed in militant attacks at a police station and two army posts in the Tank town, Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan near the northwestern Afghan border.
Local Police Chief Iftikhar Shah had earlier said that two police officers were killed, and three others sustained injuries during the assault. Additionally, two attackers were killed in the incident.Shah further mentioned that soldiers took down a third militant during the attack on a nearbyarmy post. Meanwhile, several hours later, the Pakistani Taliban carried out an assault on a military post situated in the northwestern Khyber region near the Afghanistan border. During the attack, two soldiers lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries, as told by local police official Salim Khan, as per an AP report.

A militant group known as Ansar-ul-Islam claimed responsibility alleging it was their first one, according to a statement sent to a Reuters reporter. The police is yet to verify the authenticity of the claim.
This attack comes 3 days after a deadly suicide blast at a police HQ that resulted in death of 23 officers.
