NEW DELHI: The Israeli army on Sunday said it has recovered a body an individual taken hostage and held in Gaza by Hamas during the October 7 attack.
The Israeli military said the “body of the abductee Elad Katzir, who according to intelligence was murdered in captivity by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organisation, was rescued overnight from Khan Yunis and returned to Israeli territory.”
Elad Katzir, 47 when abducted with his mother Hanna from Nir Oz kibbutz, has been found deceased.
Hanna was released during a temporary ceasefire in Gaza. Avraham, Katzir’s father, lost his life in the attack.
The Israeli army has now recovered a total of 12 bodies from Gaza during the conflict.
