In a strategic move to avoid a potentially awkward encounter with his brother, Prince William, and other family members amidst their ongoing feud, Prince Harry has reportedly declined an invitation to the Duke of Westminster‘s upcoming wedding, according to sources, reported Page Six.
Scheduled for next summer, the wedding of the Duke, Hugh Grosvenor, and Olivia Henson is anticipated to be a grand societal event at Chester Cathedral on June 7.Prince Harry, who received a “Save the Date” card, personally contacted the Duke to express that it would be best for him and his wife,Meghan Markle, not to attend.
This decision, made well in advance of recent tensions fueled by the controversial book “Endgame” by Omid Scobie, could have marked the first meeting between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton since the Queen’s funeral in September 2022.
Despite being close friends with both Prince Harry and Prince William, Hugh Grosvenor allegedly chose Prince William over Prince Harry to attend the wedding to avoid potential clashes between the warring brothers. However, sources reveal that Harry had received the “save the date” card a few months ago but deemed attending the wedding too awkward, prompting him to make his apologies directly to the Duke.
The Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, is known for his deep ties to the royal family, being the godson of King Charles and having significant connections with both Prince William and Prince Harry. The wedding is expected to draw royal attendees, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Kate Middleton.
The ongoing rift within the royal family, exacerbated by the recent revelations in Omid Scobie’s book, has heightened tensions, with Prince William reportedly being in the running for the role of best man at Grosvenor’s wedding. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have remained silent amid the mounting storm surrounding the book and the strained family relationships.
