Bharti Enterprises chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal on Friday hailed India’s Digital India initiative and the JAM (Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile) trinity, along with the government’s efforts to advance digital public infrastructure and said that it can accelerate the world economy.
Sunil Mittal made this remark while speaking at the 7th edition of the India Mobile Congress at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Mittal said, as reported by PTI, “Whether it is World Bank, United Nations, WTO, African Union, European Union, G20, OECD countries, BRICS; everyone is saying that the digital infrastructure that India has built can accelerate the world economy, especially in those countries which have lack of infrastructure.”
Mittal informed that Airtel has already extended its WiFi services to 5,000 towns and 20,000 villages and expressed the company’s commitment to providing nationwide 5G coverage by March 2024.
Mittal stressed, “Satellite communication and said that it is here to serve every inch of our country and of course the globe. With your intervention, we were able to get two rockets GSLV Mk 3 from ISRO to launch 72 satellites last year and today OneWeb constellation in which Bharti has the largest stake is ready to serve the globe and country.”
Bharti added, “Anybody anywhere in the country however remote or far or in difficult areas can be connected from next month onwards from our Satellite ground station that has been set up in Mehsana, Gujarat.”
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the 7th Edition of the India Mobile Congress.
IMC has launched a new initiative this year called ‘Aspire,’ aimed at fostering connections among startups, investors, and established businesses. This program is designed to encourage innovative entrepreneurial ventures and promote collaborations.
The event is anticipated to draw more than a hundred thousand attendees from 22 different countries, comprising around 5,000 high-level executives, 230 exhibitors, 400 startup companies, and various stakeholders.
