‘Jab We Met’ has achieved a cult status in Bollywood. The coming of age romcom, that starred former lovers Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, was directed by Imtiaz Ali and came out in 2007.

While fans have been demanding a sequel for quite some time now, reports were earlier rife that work on the second instalment might actually be in the pipeline. However, it was still not confirmed if Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali will be coming together for the project, though it was being said that Ali might direct the sequel too, considering how well the first part did.

However, no one related to the movie had spoken up about the same, that is until now. In a chat with News18, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali unfortunately, quashed all rumours of a sequel right now and said that no one has asked him anything about it. He further said that he does not even have a story for the same.
Earlier this year, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, a fan had asked Shahid Kapoor on social media, ‘I’ve noticed that you and Imtiaz Ali have been interacting a lot recently! Is there any project in the works?’ Replying to the fan, Shahid had said, ‘Smart boy’.

Earlier, during an interview with a media outlet, Shahid Kapoor revealed how he fought to wear glasses in Jab We Met. In the majority of the scenes in the Imtiaz Ali film, Kapoor’s character Aditya Kashyap is seen in glasses. But it wasn’t an easy task as the actor recalls, “I fought with everybody. I was like, ‘I want to wear glasses for this,’ and everybody’s like, ‘Are you mad?’ Hero glasses thodi pehenta hai? Tu gaana kaise gayega?” (Hero does not wear glasses, how will you sing?)”

The actor then recalled that his character was suicidal and wanted to jump out of a train. He also added that when he had to sing and dance, he would take his glasses off. Are you crazy? This is a love story, Kapoor continues, describing the response he received.
Regardless of Imtiaz’s statement, it would be a treat for Shahid and Kareena fans to watch the ex-couple sizzle on the silver screen once again. The actors had come together for ‘Udta Punjab’ after ‘Jab We Met’. However, they had no screen time together in the film.
‘Jab We Met’ also starred actors like Tarun Arora, Saumya Tandon and Dara Singh in key roles.
