Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ has continued to have a steady hold at the box office ever since it released due to positive word of mouth. It had a good opening of around Rs 30 crore on Day 1 and was holding steady over the weekdays making some single digit numbers. However, the real test of the film was if it manages to garner good numbers over its second weekend. ‘Dunki’ has seen a growth on Sunday due to New Year’s eve and managed to have a double digit number.
While it earned Rs 9 crore on Saturday, December 30; on Sunday which is December 31, the film managed to make Rs 12 crore as per early numbers in all languages according to Sacnilk.com. The total amount it garnered in its second weekend is over Rs 27.5 crores net. With that, the film’s domestic box office total so far is Rs 188 crore. The night occupancy for the film was more than 38 percent.
Meanwhile the gross worldwide collection of ‘Dunki’ is Rs 370 crores. What’s interesting is that ‘Dunki’ had a higher number on Sunday than ‘Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire’. The Prabhas starrer made Rs 9.5 crore on Sunday and had a total domestic weekend of Rs 23 crore. The collection of the film in Hindi is Rs 115 crores nett.
Now, while the new year has begun, there are no big ticket films coming till ‘Fighter’ releases on January 25, 2024. Hence, ‘Dunki’ and ‘Salaar’ will get a chance to further have a good hold at the box office in the coming days!
