NEW DELHI: In an interesting development, Sam Altman and OpenAI‘s board have opened discussions to bring back the former CEO of the artificial intelligence startup, Bloomberg News reported.
The future of OpenAI was thrown into jeopardy after more than 700 of its 770 employees signed a letter on Monday saying they may leave the company for Microsoft if the ousted CEO is not reinstalled.
One of the board members who pushed out Altman on Friday reversed course Monday and signed the letter, which was on an internal message board, according to three people familiar with the matter.
The decision by OpenAI’s board to remove Altman shocked the tech world. It also led to a flurry of developments, including Microsoft extending an offer to the ousted CEO.
