Mom Came to See Virat Kohli, Not Me!

By scoring his 76th international century, his 29th in the longest format, on Day 2 of the current second Test in Trinidad, Virat Kohli made his imprint in the 100th Test between India and the West Indies. India produced a total of 438 to seize control of the game, and Kohli hit three figures from his overnight score of 88 just minutes into the day. Alzarri Joseph struck directly towards the non-striker’s end from square-leg, resulting in the former India captain being run out for 121. This misjudgment cost him the game.

There was a special supporter inside the Queen’s Park Oval during Virat Kohli’s innings in Trinidad. It was none other than Joshua Da Silva’s mother, a West Indies wicketkeeper and hitter.

Da Silva previously disclosed that her mother came specifically to see Kohli bat.

On Day 1, the stump mic recorded Joshua stating, “My mum called and told me she’s coming to watch the match for Virat Kohli, I couldn’t believe it.”

Da Silva’s mother had the opportunity to meet Kohli on Friday when he exited the team van. She gave Kohli a joyful embrace and praised him for his victory. While Da Silva watched from the sidelines, she also took images of them together.

“I found it amusing when My informed me that she had gone to meet Virat rather than me. He just so happened to be on the bus when my mum indicated he could be. He came to see my mum when I went and banged on the window. In a video that the BCCI shared, Joshua stated, “He made her day, perhaps her year.

In the video, Virat is seen smiling as he greets Joshua, while Joshua’s mother can be seen obviously thrilled to run into her favourite batsman.

Day 2 saw Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja lead a crucial 159-run fifth-wicket stand that helped India regain the upper hand following a mid-afternoon stumble on Day 1 when they fell to 182 for four.

This was a chance for me to speak out for the team, and these are the kinds of situations when I really engage, said Kohli.

He highlighted, “The metrics and milestones and all of that are for others to talk about.
