The Voyager 2 spacecraft, which is presently probing the wide expanse among stars – indiansupdate.com

The antenna mismatch on NASA’s Voyager 2 probe, which is presently in outer space, is causing problems with communication. The Voyager 2 spacecraft, which is presently probing the wide expanse among stars, is having trouble communicating owing to a transmitter mismatch. This issue prevents it from receiving commands or sending data back to Earth. Yet, NASA is optimistic that the issue will be fixed with the following attitude resets in October. Voyager 2 has the extraordinary honour of having been the second-farthest created by humans spacecraft in space, behind only the original Voyager 1.

On July 21, a series of planned commands unintentionally caused Voyager 2’s antenna to veer 2 degrees away from Earth, resulting in the communication disruption. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), NASA’s facility operating the spacecraft, released a statement explaining the situation. Despite the temporary setback, Voyager 2 is specifically designed to realign its antenna with Earth multiple times each year. The upcoming orientation reset on October 15 is anticipated to restore communication.

During its incredible journey, Voyager 2 has achieved remarkable milestones, including exploring all four of the solar system’s giant planets up close. At Jupiter, it discovered a 14th moon, and at Uranus, it found 10 new moons and two rings. Voyager 2 was also the first human-made object to pass by Neptune, revealing five moons, four rings, and a fascinating “Great Dark Spot.”

Launched on August 20, 1977, Voyager 2 is now situated over 19.9 billion kilometers away from Earth, residing in the interstellar space—a region situated between our Sun’s heliosphere and other stars’ astrospheres. Voyager 1, located nearly 24 billion kilometers away, continues to operate without any issues. Both Voyagers have made extraordinary contributions to our understanding of the cosmos and will forever be pioneers in humanity’s exploration of the universe.
