Schools and institutions in Kerala’s three districts would be closed today due to the IMD orange alert.

A holiday has been declared for Monday for all educational institutions in the districts of Kannur, Kozhikode, and Wayanad following the orange signal from the India Meteorological Department.

On July 8, numerous areas of Kerala and Lakshadweep experienced heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. (File) On Sunday, the weather service issued an orange notice for the following locations: Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kasarkode, and a yellow alert for the following: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Malappuram.

The PSC exams at Kannur University, however, have not changed, according to a release.

A number of locations in Kerala and Lakshadweep had heavy to extremely severe rainfall on July 8.

On Sunday evening, the national capital experienced severe rainfall in a few locations amid a flood-like condition in low-lying districts caused by the swelling Yamuna river.

Earlier, a spike in water discharge from the Hathnikund Barrage into the Yamuna River in Delhi caused it to breach the danger mark once more, raising the possibility of another round of flooding in the nation’s capital.
