An Indian woman drowns after falling from a Singapore cruise ship – indiansupdate.com
An Indian entrepreneur in Melbourne has now asked the Indian government for help in finding her mother, who allegedly leapt off the Royal Caribbean Cruise as it passed across the Strait of Singapore. A tragic incident occurred on a Royal Caribbean Cruise passing through the Singapore Strait, where an Indian woman reportedly jumped from the ship and lost her life. Her son, Apoorv Sahani, a businessman based in Melbourne, sought assistance from the Indian government to locate his missing mother. He accused the cruise staff of neglecting their responsibilities and not providing any surveillance footage or conducting a rescue operation.
Apoorv used Twitter to contact the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), requesting immediate assistance in locating his mom, who was aboard the “Spectrum of the Seas” cruise. The cruise staff claimed that she had jumped overboard, but Apoorv questioned their actions and alleged that they off-boarded his father without aiding in the search for his missing wife.
After much appeal, the cruise liner finally shared the footage with Apoorv, confirming the unfortunate demise of his mother. Reetha Sahani, the deceased woman, was traveling with her husband, Jakesh Sahani, at the time of the incident. Apoorv stated that they are awaiting access to the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to verify the circumstances surrounding the incident, as the cruise crew believes she jumped, but her whereabouts remain uncertain.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) disclosed that the passenger had fallen into the Singapore Strait. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) has taken charge of search efforts and alerted other vessels in the area to be vigilant and report any sightings of the missing person to the MRCC.
