Roorkee: The Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee celebrated its annual convocation on Friday. The institute awarded a total of 1,916 degrees, comprising 1,077 undergraduates, 685 masters and 154 PhDs. A total of 125 medals and cash prizes were distributed at the event.

Dattatri Salagame, CEO and president of Bosch Global Software Technology, who was the chief guest of the event, said, “From computer hardware to software, our country needs products that can gain global recognition. Therefore, it is imperative for engineering students to focus on constant learning as technology is evolving everyday which has brought forth new challenges.”
Salagame also appreciated the institute’s role in bridging the gap between academia and industry with the recent integration of startups and excellence centres of knowledge for overall development of students.

BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman, board of governors of the institute and professor KK Pant, director of the institute, also addressed the event.
