FLORIDA — Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) announced Thursday the seizure and destruction of approximately 5,000 pounds of raw and packaged “gas station heroin,” and THC-O from Florida distribution facilities.
The Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement and Division of Food Safety destroyed the illegal products, and the raw material used to make them.
These drugs had been previously placed under stop-sale orders by inspectors to prevent any potential harm to consumers.
‘Gas Station Heroin” is the name given to tianeptine, a drug used mainly in treating major depressive disorder. However, it may also treat anxiety, asthma, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Attorney General Ashley Moody filed an emergency rule last month that prohibited the sale of tianeptine in Florida. THC-O is categorized as a controlled substance under federal and state law, §893.03(1)(c)190, Fla. Stat.
The sweep included inspections of over 700 businesses in all Florida counties and uncovered over 83,000 packages of hemp extract products, including euphoric, high-potency THC products, targeting children.
