NEW DELHI: The application process for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2024, conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, is set to conclude today, September 29.
Prospective candidates looking to participate in the GATE 2024 examination must complete and submit their application forms before this deadline. For those who miss the initial cutoff, there is an opportunity to apply until October 13 by paying a late fee.
The online registration for the GATE 2024 had two distinct periods. The regular registration period spanned from August 30, 2023, to September 29, 2023, allowing candidates to submit their applications within this timeframe. For those who missed this window, there was an extended period until October 13, 2023, during which applicants could still register by paying a late fee. The results of the GATE 2024 examination are scheduled to be announced on March 16, 2024.
The GATE 2024 examination schedule, though tentative, is slated to take place over two consecutive weekends in February 2024. On Saturday, February 3rd, and Sunday, February 4th, the exam will be conducted in two sessions each day, from 9:30 am to 12:30 p.m. in the forenoon and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Similarly, the following weekend, on Saturday, February 10th, and Sunday, February 11th, the GATE 2024 exam will follow the same schedule.
The GATE 2024 examination introduces a 30 test paper, covering both full-length and sectional papers. Candidates can select and appear for either one or two test papers from the available two-paper combinations. Moreover, the GATE scores achieved by candidates will retain their validity for a three-year period from the date of the result announcement.
The GATE 2024 application fee, during the regular application period, which spanned from August 30 to September 29, 2023, the fee for Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates was set at Rs 900/-, while for all other candidates, including foreign nationals, it stood at Rs 1800/-. For those who opt for the extended application period, running from September 30 to October 13, 2023, the fees increase slightly, with Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates paying Rs 1400/- and all other candidates, including foreign nationals, contributing Rs 2300/-.

Step 2: Register for a new account using a valid email address and mobile number. Ensure that the email and phone number are accessible throughout the application process as important notifications will be sent here.
Step 3: Log in to your account and complete the application form. Provide accurate personal information, including your name, date of birth, gender, and contact details.
Step 4: Scan and upload necessary documents, including a recent passport-sized photograph, your signature, and other specified documents.
Step 5: Choose your preferred examination centres and the specific papers you wish to appear for. Be mindful of your choices as they cannot be changed later.
Step 6: Proceed to pay the application fee online through the provided payment gateway. The fee may vary based on your category and the application period (regular or extended).
Once you’ve completed these steps and made the payment, your GATE 2024 application will be successfully submitted. Make sure to keep a copy of the application confirmation for future reference.
