Republic Day 2024 LIVE Updates: Vyjayantimala, Chiranjeevi, Mithun and Usha Uthup among Padma awards recipients

On the eve of the 75th Republic Day, 132 individuals, including Indian cinema legends Vyjayantimala, Chiranjeevi, and Mithun Chakraborty, were bestowed with Padma Awards for 2024. Vyjayantimala and Chiranjeevi were among the recipients of the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award. Notable Tamil actor-politician Vijayakanth received a posthumous Padma Bhushan. Mithun Chakraborty, singer Usha Uthup, and composer Pyarelal Sharma were also awarded Padma Bhushan. Other awardees include Bharatnatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam and Bombay Samachar owner Hormusji N Cama. The list comprises five Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri Awards, with 30 awardees being women. Check full list
