NEW DELHI: Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, has reportedly taken up residence in the guesthouse on the grounds of Prince Harry and Meghan’s Montecito mansion, offering support during what has been described as a challenging year for the couple.
Citing sources, the Daily express reported that the 67-year-old yoga teacher has practically moved in, spending more time at their Californian estate than in her own home in View Park-Windsor Hills, Los Angeles.
“2023 was a tough year for both Harry and Meghan, and Doria has been there for them,” the insider disclosed. “Doria looks fighting fit, but she’s nearly 70 and gets tired of the car rides from her home to see her daughter and grandchildren. It takes nearly three hours to drive one way, so it made sense for her to move into the guesthouse.”
According to the source, Meghan has increasingly leaned on her mother throughout the past year, which has presented various challenges for both her and Prince Harry. The couple’s ventures, including a Netflix documentary and a Spotify deal, faced setbacks, leading to a noticeable struggle in their Hollywood endeavors.
“Doria has really been Meghan’s rock over the past year. Not only has she been there for her daughter but has enjoyed helping to look after the grandchildren,” the source revealed. “Harry adores her as well and loves having her there. There are times when he needs alone time, so Doria heads over to the guesthouse to make herself scarce when needed.”
Doria spent the Christmas holidays with the Sussexes at their Montecito home, following a family holiday to Costa Rica in December, where they visited Zapotal, Nandayure, and Guanacaste.
“Doria has basically become the mother of the household,” the source continued. “Harry loves to be mothered, so he finds Doria being there very refreshing.”
The close bond between Prince Harry and Doria serves as a welcomed distraction from the ongoing tensions with his UK-based family. The rift between the Sussexes and the Royal Family appears to be deepening, with hopes dwindling that Harry will reconcile with his father, King Charles and brother Prince William.
