In an unusual sight for people plying on the road, an airplane got stuck in the middle of the road in Bihar on Friday. The scrapped airplane was being transported by a flatbed truck to Assam from Mumbai.
However, the truck on its way to Assam got stuck in Bihar’s Motihari in the middle of the road under the Piprakothi bridge on Friday. The unusual situation led to traffic jams on the road.
According to police, the lorry driver misjudged the underneath height of the overbridge leading to a difficult situation where it got difficult for the truck below the bridge.
“Prima facie, it appears that the driver of the vehicle misjudged the underneath height of the overbridge vis-a-vis the height of the consignment being carried on the vehicle, and as a result, it got stuck beneath the overbridge,” a police officer told Hindustan Times.
Despite the long traffic jam that resulted due to the situation, Piprakothi’s station house officer (SHO) Manoj Kumar Singh said that the lorry carrying the plane was safely taken out and proceeded its journey to Assam, reported HT.
However, according to the eyewitnesses, the plane continued to remain stuck under the bridge for over an hour. The situation also led to a long traffic jam on NH 27. The video shared by the news agency ANI shows a long stretch of vehicles standing and blocking the road.
“It was around 9 am when police reached the spot. The vehicle was extricated by deflating the tires of the lorry,” an eyewitness told HT’s Sandeep Bhaskar.
In another incident that took place in Andhra Pradesh in November, another airplane got stuck on the underpass of a road in Bapatla district. The airplane was being transferred to Hyderabad.
