Around 45 shops on the Nalhar Medical Road in the Nuh district are being demolished for alleged illegal construction. The District Town Planner of Nuh district informed ANI that all of these commercial shops have been constructed without permission and are illegal.
Earlier on Friday, officials bulldozed around 250 shanties on encroached government land in Taru town and areas neighbouring Nuh district, reported PTI. Reportedly, most of the demolished land was on the way to Nalhar Shiv temple where violence occurred during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad procession.
The state government officials said that the steps taken on Friday have led to five acres of forest department land behind Nalhar Shiv temple getting freed of encroachment while six acres of forest land in Punhana, one acre in Dhobi Ghat and two acres in Nangal Mubarikpur was freed from encroachment.
Outgoing Nuh Deputy Commissioner Panwar told PTI that the demolition drive against illegal structures was carried out on the orders of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Panwar also denied linkage between recent violence in the state and the demolition drive.
Meanwhile, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij hinted at bulldozer being part of the treatment during a press conference in Chandigarh, he said, “Ilaj mein bulldozer bhi ek karavayi hai”
The action on Thursday evening was against jhuggis belonging to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Tauru town allegedly encroaching upon Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) land.
According to the police, 141 people have been arrested and over 55 cases registered in Nuh in connection with the violence.
